Britney Spears finally free from guardianship

Pop star Britney Spears has agreed with her father on the last remaining points of contention in their bitter feud, two years after a contentious custody order was dropped.

On Saturday, she entered into a multi-million dollar agreement in court in Los Angeles to pay her father Jamie Spears’ legal expenses and other costs, according to several American media.

– Although the guardianship was terminated in 2021, her wish for full freedom has now been completely fulfilled, says the musician’s lawyer Mathew Rosengart.

The father’s lawyer, Alex Weingarten, says he’s glad the whole thing is over.

After a lengthy legal battle, in November 2021 Spears had her father removed from her guardianship, where he had extensive control over her life and fortune, and she herself was allowed to choose a temporary replacement.

The father was appointed guardian in 2008 after she had several mental breakdowns. Spears claimed that her father abused the power he had over her, while he defends himself and says he only wanted the best for his daughter.

42-year-old Britney Spears is one of the world’s most successful musicians, with several platinum records, and it is believed that she has a fortune of 60 million dollars.
