Haaland back from injury with a goal – City answered Arsenal in the title race

--

– Whooo! shouted the Norwegian after bending down towards the microphone.

You’ve heard the recipe before: Kevin De Bruyne led forward in a fine drive and played to the Norwegian.

He took a couple of touches, drew off a defender and placed the ball under control past Forest goalkeeper Matz Sels with his right foot.

See the score:

In doing so, he doubled City’s lead to 2–0 after 70 minutes and ensured that City could finally shrug their shoulders.

– The best finisher in the country. Haaland is not having his best season by his incredible standards, but is the top scorer in the Premier League. It is strange that people doubt him, reported the profiled journalist Henry Winter.

The victory means that Manchester City are once again one point behind title rivals Arsenal, and they have one less game to play. “The Gunners” beat city rivals Tottenham in dramatic fashion earlier today.

It remains the case that Manchester City will secure the Premier League title if they win their remaining four games. Pay special attention to the matchup they have on May 14:

Wood’s waste

For a long time it was very uncomfortable for the reigning champions, they missed big chances.

But they also scored first, when Josko Gvardiol met Kevin De Bruyne’s corner at the far post after half an hour.

City boss Pep Guardiola expected an all-out Forest team in the first game after the controversies against Everton.

Then Forest shared a post accusing the VAR referee of being a Luton fan, and against City the home fans chanted against what they loudly believed was a corrupt league.

However, Chris Wood’s unimaginable miss at an open goal had nothing to do with the referees.

City pulled off a scare, and not just once. Wood had an almost equally unimaginable miss right after the second half started.

Alfie in place

Erling Braut Haaland was back in the squad for the first time since the quarter-final against Real Madrid on 17 April.

Since then he has missed the wins over Chelsea and Brighton with a minor muscle problem.

After 50 minutes he was sent to warm up, ten minutes later he was replaced with his good mate Jack Grealish.

Father Alfie Haaland and the “fixer” Ivar Eggja were present at the City Ground, the former smiling slyly when his son rolled in 2-0. After the match, Haaland junior grinned and got “Haaland! Haaland! Haaland” shouts in return from the fans.

Oscar Bobb came on with little time left and helped secure City’s victory. It looked uncomfortable for a long time, but Manchester City is showing champion form with four games left in the season.
