History is being made in the Premier League tonight. For the first time, the match’s referee is equipped with a camera. The equipment, which is placed on Jarred Gillett’s ear, has been named “RefCam”.

The match will therefore be filmed from the referee’s point of view, but the images will not be shown live. Instead, the footage will be used in the Match Officials Mic’d Up program on Sky Sports at a later date.

United raged

Before half an hour was played, the away team had a goal disallowed for an attack on the goalkeeper. Dean Henderson was pushed by Rasmus Højlund in the air just in front of the line, and the ball went into the goal. The referee blew after every free kick, and VAR did nothing. That decision created discussions.

Rio Ferdinand is among those who believe the goalkeepers are protected too much:

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag flailed his arms in frustration, while the players protested to no avail. Former Arsenal player Alan Smith believed that former United goalkeeper Henderson was lucky in the situation.

Early cold shower

Michael Olise did everything himself on the 1-0 score. He pulled past Casemiro, before going several meters without pressure and placing the ball in the bottom corner.
