On Thursday this week, a Norwegian man in Värmland will have admitted to having killed another person.

When the police investigated the man’s home, they found body parts from a woman in a freezer, according to information to Aftonbladet.

The Swedish newspaper writes that the woman has been missing for a long time – according to sources for the newspaper, the woman has been missing for eight years, and also dead for this entire period.

Swedish prosecutors confirm to TV 2 that both the dead woman and the man are Norwegian citizens.

According to Aftonbladet, they must have lived together, but the police will not confirm this and tell TV 2 that the two knew each other from before.

– I can’t say much, other than that on Thursday morning we found a woman dead in a home in Västra Värmland, says spokesperson Christina Hallin in the Bergslagen police district to TV 2.

The police will neither deny nor confirm that the woman was found in a freezer.

– How this has happened, and when this has happened, is something we want to investigate, adds Hallin.

Ministry of Foreign Affairs not familiar with the matter

A spokesperson for Kripos tells TV 2 that she cannot comment on the case at the present time when asked if they know of a Norwegian woman who has been missing in Sweden.

TV 2 has also contacted the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to find out if they are aware of the case.

– The Foreign Service is not familiar with the case beyond what appears in the media, writes press officer Mathias Rongved in a text message.

Denies criminal guilt

The police say that it is unclear how long the woman has been missing.

– It was the conditions on the spot that made us start a murder investigation, says Hallin.

The man is suspected of murder and gross violation of the funeral. He denies criminal guilt, the police say.

TV 2 has been in contact with the man’s defender, who says he cannot comment at this time.

The man is said to be known to the Swedish police from before, and according to VG, he is also known to the Norwegian police.

The woman was found in the western part of Värmland, which borders Norway:

The Swedish public prosecutor’s office must decide by Sunday at 12 noon whether the man should be remanded in custody.

The police have taken an initial questioning of the man, says spokesperson Hallin.

– We have spoken to the man, but we do not want to go into what he has said.

– Don’t see him often

On Saturday morning, Swedish police cordoned off the man’s farm. A neighbor tells Aftonbladet that the man now suspected of murder has rarely been out.

– We don’t see him often, he keeps to himself and has the curtains drawn over the window, says the neighbour.

– I have seen him with a woman, but it was many years ago, he adds.

According to Aftonbladet, the man is being treated at a hospital.

The police will not release any further information on the matter for the time being.
