There is no doubt that Final Fantasy VII: Rebirth surpasses its predecessor, not only in technical finish, but also in game systems, variety, open design and countless other details, and there is no doubt that (at least as of today) should join the fight to become the game of the year.

And to make all the pieces fit into a greater whole, especially in a work as highly anticipated as these Final Fantasy VII remakes are, producer Yoshinori Kitase spoke to The Washington Post and praised the work of the team and more specifically director Naoki Hamaguchi.

“Hamaguchi set goals from the beginning and made sure the whole team shared and understood them,” said Kitase. “Furthermore, these goals were broken down into medium-term goals to be achieved every three months, and we organized a webinar to keep the teams updated so that we could all stay up to date.”

In addition, Kitase confirms that the development of the third and final part of the FF VII: Remake story is already well underway thanks to the efforts and designs it will inherit from Rebirth, although there will be changes. The main challenge of the final game is to rebuild the world to accommodate the Highwind airship. “I definitely want to do the same thing that we expect from Highwind, namely exploring the world,” says Hamaguchi.

It is unclear when this third part of the Final Fantasy VII trilogy will arrive, but the 30th anniversary of the original work in 2027 suddenly does not sound so far away.
