It was an observant fellow road user who first notified the police about this. He got behind the wheel of the Tesla, with the hazard warning lights on.
A police car arrived, and then the attempts to wake up the man behind the wheel began. It was not done in one fell swoop. Only after four miles did the man suddenly wake up and was first about to drive into the police car, which had to swerve away to avoid a collision.
The driver then gained control of the car and turned into a gas station.
