Donald Trump will be allowed to take Friday, May 17, off from the hush money trial to attend his son Barron’s high school graduation ceremony, Manhattan Supreme Court Justice Juan Merchan said.
“I don’t think the May 17 date is not a problem, so Mr. Trump can attend that date, attend his son’s graduation,” Merchan said at the start of today’s hearing.
Trump had falsely claimed earlier in the trial that the judge had barred him from attending Barron’s graduation from Oxbridge Academy in Palm Beach, Florida.
In fact, the judge had told Trump during jury selection that he would decide the issue at a later date.
The judge went on to fine the former president $1,000 each for nine gag order violations, totaling $9,000.
