Now Disney has released the first images of the upcoming film “Mufasa: The Lion King”.
The film is a sequel to the photorealistic remake of “The Lion King” from 2019.
Blue Ivy Carter (12) plays the role of Kiara, the daughter of King Simba and Queen Nala.
Beyoncé makes a “comeback” as Nala, and thus plays together with her daughter.
She was also part of the 2019 success.
– They didn’t have to pretend they were mother and daughter, because they are.
That’s what filmmaker Barry Jenkins says to Good Morning America about Beyoncé and Blue Ivy, according to the BBC.
The new film will be about the upbringing of Mufasa together with Scar.
The film is set to have its world premiere in December 2024, on Monday Disney published the first official movie trailer:
Several actors from the 2019 film return.
Those who are in “Mufasa: The Lion King” include Donald Glover as Simba, Seth Rogen and Billy Eichner as Timon and Pumbaa, and John Kani as Rafiki.
New actors are also included, among them the Danish Mads Mikkelsen.
Five years ago, Disney chose to recreate the animated film “The Lion King” 25 years after it premiered.
It was done with so-called CGI technology, Computer Generated Imagery, to create what has been called “live action” – i.e. animation that looks real.
The company continues to expand the “Lion King” universe with this technology.
The original from 1994 is among the most famous animated films of all time.
Blue Ivy Carter also visited the latest “Lion King” film.
The mother who had the soundtrack to the 2019 film featured her on the song “Brown Skin Girl”.
At the time, she became the youngest female artist to enter the Billboard Hot 100 list, as the songs were also successful off the screen.
