Took a taxi to Hamar

Police believe Naznet was killed sometime during the evening of April 4 or the early hours of April 5 in 2023.

The boyfriend is linked to a bus trip from Lørenskog to Lillestrøm on the night of 5 April – then he took a taxi home to Hamar. A trip that cost NOK 3,000.

– Naznet was still alive when I left. We separated teams in a good way. Why do you ask why I went home, it is as irrelevant as if I had gone to Kirkenes.

– As long as there is no law that says I am not allowed to go home, I will not answer any more questions about that, the 33-year-old explained in court.

Fully packed suitcase

The girlfriend was arrested on 7 April.

When the police searched his home, they found a pre-packed suitcase and travel documents, according to a previous ruling in the case.

Later, the police investigation revealed that he had also searched for one-way flight tickets to Addis Ababa on his PC. He had also searched for hotels in the Ethiopian capital.

The searches were made after Naznet was killed.

– I hadn’t bought a plane ticket. The fact that I had applied for plane tickets and hotels and such, I can’t remember. I haven’t bought anything. Can you make a trip just by applying for something like that? I hadn’t bought anything, he explained in court.

Fingerprints in blood

Inside Naznet’s apartment in Lørenskog, the police found what they believe to be the murder weapon, a silver kitchen knife from Ikea.

A fingerprint in the deceased’s blood was found on the door to the bathroom. The experts at Kripos have determined that the fingerprint belongs to the accused’s boyfriend.

When the 33-year-old was arrested for the murder, the police found a T-shirt and a pair of shoes in his home. Naznet’s blood was found on both the T-shirt and the shoes.

In court, he did not understand these findings.

– In my opinion, the defendant’s explanation is adapted and constructed. He changes his explanation after being presented with information from the investigation, says prosecutor Asbjørg Lykkjen.

Defense attorney Øystein Storrvik does not want to comment on what comes to light in court before the final proceedings.

– Hoping for a conclusion

Several members of Naznet’s family are in court to follow the case. But the immediate family is elsewhere in the world, the mother is in Uganda and the brother is in Canada.

– They are in an ongoing crisis and in great grief. Or as they write to me; they feel pain and suffering. The family hopes for closure and that the right perpetrator is convicted. The murder of Naznet has caused the family a great deal of emotional damage, says assistance lawyerA lawyer who represents the interests of victims in a criminal case. Monica Melgård to VG.
