4,500 companies at risk of bankruptcy – Document

--

4,500 companies are at risk of bankruptcy, according to an analysis company. The risk of bankruptcy increases in almost all industries, but the construction industry is the most exposed, according to the company.

– It is worse off than it has been for a long time, says managing director Kari Mette Almskog at the analysis company Dun & Bradstreet to E24.

The data and analysis company makes quarterly forecasts for the bankruptcy risk over the next twelve months. They now estimate that there will be 4,588 Norwegian bankruptcies in the next year.

This is a deterioration of seven per cent compared to the same period last year – and 13 per cent more than the average of the last three years.

It is the building and construction industry that has the most companies in the danger zone. The analysis company estimates that 956 companies in this industry may go bankrupt in the next year.

NHO Reiseliv manager Kristin Krohn Devold points out that there have been very few hotel bankruptcies, but a small increase for restaurants.

She says that there are many people now who are worried that the wage settlement will be too expensive and that interest rates will not come down quickly enough.

– It is therefore important not to increase the burden on the industry, now and in the future, with costs or restrictions that weaken the industry, she says.

Last year there were 4,517 bankruptcies, according to Statistics Norway. This was an increase of 22 per cent from the previous year.
