– Super week is the best week in the life of most women. And it comes predictably, at about the same time, every month.

Journalist Line Tiller enthusiastically talks about what she has learned about the “super week” over the past three years.

After a visit to a gynecologist, she realized that there was a lot she didn’t know about her own body.

– I started writing more articles about fertility and women’s health. At one point I wrote a case about some athletes feeling they have more to give the week after their period. Then I started following my own cycle, she says.

Girlfriends widened their eyes

Tiller soon realized that the two weeks after the period were, precisely, “supre”. Especially days 7–14 of the cycle.

When she asked her friends if there was anything they had noticed, some of them reacted with narrowed eyes and gasps.

– The vast majority of women I spoke to had an a-ha moment. At a backyard party, someone shook me and said “do you know how important this is?!”.

Over the past three years, she has met countless experts, read page after page of research and talked to other women about the topic. The findings have resulted in the book “Superuka”, which has been sold to three countries even before its launch.

– I thought that this is something that more women should know about. As a journalist, I can probably both simplify the topic so that it becomes understandable and collect several different points of view.

So what actually happens to women when they are in their “super week”?

Tiller explains that estrogen levels in women increase towards ovulation. Therefore, women have a kind of “super week” in the days before.

– We become full of energy, more motivated, more attractive, stronger, happier and hornier, she says.

Ovulation is described “as natural cocaine” in the description of the book.

Towards the period, however, estrogen levels drop again. Then many women become more depressed and run out of energy a little more, explains Tiller.

– All women are different, so our cycle and how much we are affected by it is very individual. But studies clearly show that most women are at their best during the “super week”.

As a secret

Tiller offers several tips on how the cycle can be utilized in the new book.

– Learning about this has been a revolution in my life. I actually see my life as a “before” and “after” I learned about super week.

Among other things, she suggests waiting with tasks that require extra concentration and effort until this week, if possible.

– It can be something like a difficult conversation with a partner or a personal goal in training, says Tiller.

– Most women live just fine without following the cycle, but if you do, you might be able to save yourself a few psychologist lessons or a trip to the other side of the world to find yourself. Because the secret is right in front of your nose. Often you only need a week to feel better.

– There will never be any real friendship

Tiller has noticed that many young people are extra keen to follow the cycle.

– Something must have happened, because I see that 20-year-olds today seem more aware of it than before.

She hopes that the book can help bring out the most important of the research on the “super week”.

– Few women are aware of how much the cycle affects us. Many people have written about periods, PMS and pain, but I want more focus to be placed on the positives as well.

Planning parties

For Tiller and his friends, “super week” has become part of everyday speech.

They often invite each other to parties or fun activities when the week approaches. The group of friends feels extra “on” when it arrives.

– Never say no to a lady who writes “hello” with thirteen exclamation points and wants to meet tonight. If you wait a week, she may be out of her super week and no longer interested, laughs Tiller.
