Don’t know what happened to the missing 35-year-old at Skotfoss – NRK Vestfold and Telemark – Local news, TV and radio

--

– I think he is exposed to something criminal, says the sister of the missing 35-year-old.

NRK meets the sister and her roommate at home in the living room in Holmestrand, where the missing brother also usually lives.

They have not received any signs of life from the family member since Saturday.

That is why she and several volunteers have been looking for him ever since.

Now a discovery has been made that the police consider interesting in connection with the disappearance.

Found a knife in the area

On Thursday at 12 noon, a hiker finds a knife under a tarpaulin at Skotfoss.

The walker wanted to help in the search for the 35-year-old, so he therefore took his daily walk with the dog in this area.

When he lifted the tarp, he found some kind of working knife. He then called the police straight away, according to himself.

Annie Sandersen, head of investigation and intelligence at Grenland police station, confirms the finding.

– A knife that is found at Skotfoss is of course interesting to the police now, she says.

Gone after a party

The man who is missing is said to have gone to visit a friend in the small town of Skotfoss outside Skien last weekend.

He is said to have attended a party there that started early on Saturday afternoon.

His mother tried to call him on Sunday morning, but then, according to his sister, a woman answered his phone.

The woman is said to have claimed that he was subjected to violence, but that she did not know where he had gone afterwards.

The sister notified the police and then traveled to Skien to find her brother.

She met the police outside the apartment in question, and she explained to them what kind of things her brother had brought with him.

This included a mobile phone and other valuables.

This must have been extracted.

– We have organized the searches ourselves, in collaboration with volunteers. There are many who have stood up. In addition, we have handed out sheets with pictures and information about my brother, she says.

– It is a desperate situation, she thinks.

Want tips

The police have carried out a fruitless search in the area where the man was last seen.

Now several days of investigation have provided the basis for more places to look.

Police chief Sandersen says that they will probably start with strategic searches during the day.

Otherwise, the police would like to get in touch with those who shopped at Coop Prix in Skotfoss between 5.30pm and 6pm on Saturday.

Shortly after the 35-year-old was last seen, the police reported that they took care of a woman who was walking around with a hammer near Skotfoss. They investigated whether it could be related to an argument at the front.

From what NRK understands, this is the same woman that the missing person was visiting.

Does not go out with name and photo

The police have so far not charged anyone in the case.

But Sandersen says the police are investigating the disappearance as a criminal case.

The 35-year-old has status as missing with the police.

The police have:

  • Conducted a thorough search of the area.
  • Get footage from surveillance cameras in the area.
  • Carried out forensic investigations in the friend’s apartment.
  • Wanted for the man internally in the police.
  • Made inquiries and talked to the family.
  • Seized a knife that was found in the area.

The police will not release the name and photo of the missing person.

– Vi must take into account the privacy of the missing person. The relatives don’t need that. They have to do what is right for them, says Sandersen.

Criticizing the police

The sister of the missing person and her partner are critical of the police’s priorities in the search for the missing person so far.

– Based on what we have known since Sunday, I think it is objectionable that the police have not launched a larger search, says the sister’s partner.

She is also disappointed by the flow of information from the police along the way.

Police chief Sandersen says that a family in such a situation always wants the police to do more.

However, she believes that the pressure on this case is great from the police’s side and says they will continue with it.
