The air ambulance has landed on the scene after a car drove off the road in Agder following a police pursuit.

Tuesday 2 April at 04:53

The police in Agder first reported at 0346 that they tried to stop and control a car on the E18 which was driving erratically from Kristiansand in the direction of Lillesand.

– The car picked up speed and continued in the direction of Lillesand, the police write.

Operations manager Knut Odde tells VG that it was the police themselves who became aware of the car a patrol car was behind.

– That is why they wanted to control this. But the car driver ignored the police with blue lights and drove on. The police pursued the car for a few minutes before it was decided to stay further behind, so-called trailing, in order not to put further pressure on the driver, and not to create other traffic-dangerous situations.

The police therefore took longer, and the car turned off the FV420 and down towards Lillesand.

– Here another patrol met the car, but never engaged in any pursuit before it disappeared out of sight.

Odde says the patrol from Lillesand had been told to keep an eye on the car, and the patrol turned around and put on their blue lights. However, this patrol did not engage in any pursuit.

Around 20 minutes later, the police received a report of a car that had driven off the road near Skuggevik.

– This turned out to be the same car that had driven from the police just ahead.

– The car had hit the guardrail and driven down a slope.

In an update, the police write that the Air Ambulance has landed at the scene, and that the patient’s injury status is unclear. The police chief is on the scene.
