Gunnar sells the family farm with “bar” and “brothel”: – There have been many legendary parties here

(Romerikes Blad): – Everything has an end, Tonhaugen says reflectively when he receives RB on his farm in Jødalsvegen in Algarheim a few days before Easter.

The 63-year-old has lived here all his life.

In 2002, he took over the farm from his parents, and gradually started work on creating a combined garage and workshop/wash hall for his many machines and vehicles.

– The plan was actually to create an office in the corner here, but it dragged on a bit over time, says Tonhaugen as he shows us around the special hall, which is furnished with, among other things, a “smithy”, a “brothel” and several bars .

In total, there are 90 seats inside the various installations, in addition to toilets and a hidden technical room.

– When we have large events and table bookings, the gangs of ladies often want to sit in the whorehouse, explains the 63-year-old, laughing.

Tonhaugen designed all the small buildings himself, before he and a friend took care of the construction work, which took nearly two years in total.

In the almost 14 years that have passed since the facility was completed, somewhere between 4,000 and 5,000 people have visited it in connection with various events, according to the builder himself.

Among other things, the well-known country artist Rune Rudberg has had several concerts on the stage, which is located in the corner on the opposite long wall of the western buildings.

– There have been many legendary parties here, and a lot of good atmosphere. Unfortunately, I am no longer 40 years old, so it will simply be too difficult to carry it on alone, explains Tonhaugen.

This is one of the reasons why he has now decided to sell the building – and the rest of the farm. The sale includes the entire agricultural property on which the farm is located, which also consists of both cultivated land and forest, in addition to three detached houses and various farm buildings.

The asking price is set at NOK 27.5 million.

Hope the new owner will use the premises

When asked what it will be like to let go of a place he has put so much work into, Tonhaugen replies that it will be strange, but that at the same time he sees that the function rooms have greater potential than he has been able to exploit himself.

– I’ve only marketed myself in the form of a Facebook group, because I’m so bad at computers, but I think there are great opportunities here if someone comes along who is a bit more technical. The hope is therefore that the new owner will continue to use the building as it stands rather than demolishing it, he says.

Estate agent Lars-Ole Frøland at Landkreditt Eiendom AS tells RB that it is rare that they come across agricultural properties that have such special outbuildings as the farm in question at Algarheim.

– It’s probably the first time we’ve sold a cowboy village, he says, laughing.

– Has anyone shown an interest in the property so far?

– Yes, we already had 8-10 interested parties on the list before we put it on the market. These are people who are taken from our database, where we have around 400 people who matched the property based on the type of property and which region it is in. However, it is only after the first viewing that we see how big the demand actually is, Frøland clarifies.

– Is it conceivable that it could take some time to get sold, considering that the property is in such a high price range?

– It is impossible to say. Of course it can happen, but we never know in advance.
