A girl under the age of 14 is said to have been raped in the city center in broad daylight – five boys involved in the case

The girl was under 14 when the gang allegedly preyed on her last summer. It must have happened at one of the entrances to Molde Cathedral.

The prosecution believes that the five boys participated to varying degrees in the gross rape of her and targeted them all shortly after the incident.

Recently, the two oldest were charged.

– The case has been extremely burdensome for her. Not just what happened, but equally sharing in social media afterwards, says the young girl’s lawyer, Curt Andre Lier.

So far, it is not known how the boys came into contact with her. It is also not clear how the gang managed to attack the girl in broad daylight in the center of Molde without being stopped.

Three of them too young for punishment

In the indictment from the public prosecutor in Møre og Romsdal, it is stated that the act of rape is gross because it must have been done by several people together and in an offensive way.

Two boys are also charged with filming and keeping videos of the abuse.

– The prosecution takes the incident very seriously, it is a serious charge. The fact that several people are present and that parts of the abuse are filmed and photographed is not usual, says state attorney Jogeir Nogva.

Three of the five boys were under the age of 15 and thus so young that they will not be prosecuted. The last two were 17 and 18 years old, and these were previously charged in our case.

Allegedly gave her drugs before the assault

The five boys must have had different roles.

The oldest in the pack, an 18-year-old, is said to have given the young girl hashish and alcohol, according to the indictment. That must have made her very angry.

He is also said to have been the first to touch her and film several abuses: “he then stayed in the immediate vicinity and continuously joined what was happening by commenting and taking pictures/video of the assaults”.

The 18-year-old is accused of complicity in rape and also of having filmed the assault.
– He does not accept criminal liability for point 1. He believes he cannot take responsibility for what happened. At the same time, he accepts criminal liability for point 2, the filming, says the man’s defender, Axel Villard Lange.

A 17-year-old boy has been charged with aggravated rape and for keeping several films from the assault. His lawyer, Erik Rolfsen, says that the 17-year-old will plead guilty to parts of the indictment during the trial.

Kripos sounded the alarm about sharing

In the autumn of 2023, both Kripos and the local police discovered that films from the assault were being widely shared. From several places in Norway, tips came in about films of what should have happened on the church steps in broad daylight.

This led to the police going out and asking people to leave it alone, and referred to each sharing as a new assault.

Afterwards, a teenager was sentenced for this.

The girl does not appear in court herself

The young girl is now in the care of child protection and has moved to another part of the country. She does not appear in court herself.

The first police interview, which was already conducted the following day, will be played out in court on Monday. Later, all five boys will explain themselves.

A man who happened to be aware that something was happening at the church must explain what he saw. Several friends and family members will also testify in the case.
