Softball Drops Game Three Vs. UT Martin 5-1

ST. CHARLES, Mo. – Lindenwood softball (25-21, 13-11 OVC) dropped their final game against UT Martin (28-20, 13-11 OVC) by a final score of 5-1. The loss marked the end to the Lions’ 2024 home schedule where Lindenwood posted a 12-5 record.

Amanda Weyh (L, 15-8) pitched her last game at Lou Brock Sports Complex picking up a loss in a hard fought effort. The right-hander tossed 5.1 innings allowing five runs on seven hits with four strikeouts. Avery Wapp pitched the final 1.2 innings for Lindenwood allowing just one hit.

The Lions’ offense continued their recent struggles with only four hits in the loss to the Skyhawks. Four different Lions posted a hit including Tori Hatton who had an RBI in back-to-back days.

UT Martin got the scoring going in the first inning with two runs off of Weyh. After loading the bases, Maddi Long delivered for UT Martin a two RBI double. Weyh got out of the jam with the bases loaded to limit the damage.

Chloe Honchar was able to deliver the first hit for the Lions in the second inning with a single to left field. Both teams went scoreless in the third before Hatton struck in the fourth with an RBI double to the fence. She brought home Weyh who reached on a hit by pitch.

The Skyhawks extended their lead in the top of the fifth inning with a two-run home run from Katie Dreiling to right field, bringing the score to 4-1 in favor of UT Martin. Kaci Fuller had an RBI groundout in the sixth for UTM scoring their fifth and final run.
