British darts star Deta Hedman (64) lost his chance to win the Denmark Open tournament after refusing to play against a trans woman.
This is reported by several media, including the DailyMail and the New York Post.
Hedman withdrew from the quarter-finals against the Dutch transwoman Noa-Lynn van Leuven (27).
It was first reported that the 64-year-old must have been ill, but she later came with a message on X:
“No fake illness, I said I wouldn’t play against a man in a women’s tournament”
Denmark Darts is said to have paid her in full for the event, according to DailyMail.
Hedman has a high profile in darts, and has previously demanded the banning of trans people from women’s tournaments.
