Finnmark Red Youth left out of extraordinary national board meeting – NRK Troms and Finnmark

– I feel that they don’t really want us there, says Thea Fremstad, head of Finnmark RU.

On Saturday, she received a message from a friend in the youth party, where he asked if Finnmark had been summoned to the extraordinary national board meeting.

– Then you get a little confused. Because we had not been told about this. When I checked around a bit, it turned out that there had been a meeting this weekend, says Fremstad.

Representative for Troms RU, Rubi Pedersen, confirms that she did not receive a summons to the meeting either.

This happened at the meeting

On Saturday, several issues were raised. Among them were the media statements that members have made recently.

– Vi had a discussion where we talked about the whole situation with Rød Ungdom and the media. We didn’t decide anything, but we had a feedback round, says secretary general of RU, Syver Kleve Kolstad.

During the meeting, they also chose who the new summer camp management would be, as the previous management has resigned.

New Facebook moderators were also elected.

Has criticized the central government

The leader in Finnmark, Thea Fremstad, and the other leaders in the county team, have previously criticized the central board. She believes that is the reason why they were not called to the meeting.

– We believe that there has been a coup in RU’s central board. That it has been the group within the party, Kommunistisk Enhet, which has infiltrated the board, says Fremstad.

There are many things the central board does that the leader from Finnmark does not agree with.

Last week there has been a lot of criticism of RU leader Amrit Kaur’s terrorist statement.

Not done on purpose

Secretary General Kolstad explains that their systems have not been updated.

Instead of sending a summons to the current representative from Finnmark, it was a former national board representative, Oddbjørn Kråkøy-Pedersen, who was instead notified.

– I haven’t had a complete overview of who has been the county board representative for Finnmark, and that they haven’t received information in the right place. It has been incredibly problematic that I haven’t had it up to date.

Kolstad emphasizes that this was not done intentionally.

– It has not been on purpose that I have not had an up-to-date enough system of who sits on the national board. JI simply had not managed to send the email to the right place.

He also says that the representative in Trøndelag has resigned, and therefore no one from this district received a summons.

Don’t believe it

The leader of Finnmark RU was among those who walked out of the hall in protest after the election at the previous national meeting, and doubts the secretary general’s explanation.

– It is very easy to see that the post of former representative Kråkøy-Pedersen is no longer active. It is clearly stated in our membership system. Then you are able to connect one and one to each other and understand that it seems that they do not want us along, says Fremstad.

She believes that this was done on purpose.

Rubi Pedersen from Troms also does not believe in the Secretary-General’s explanation.

– I have been summoned to all the national board meetings before the national meeting, so I don’t quite know if I believe that the system is out of date.

The Troms representative also says that she would have understood if it was a former representative who was sent the summons. But it was Fredrik Askim, someone who has never been a representative in Troms RU, who was sent this.

– But I also understand that misunderstandings can happen, says Pedersen.

A system that should have been updated

Secretary General Kolstad says, on the other hand, that there is no information that Kråkøy-Pedersen was no longer Finnmark’s representative.

– It doesn’t say anywhere that it has been inactive. I have used a mail group and member register to put together the invitation.

He admits that members in the register have not been updated for a long time.

– Hypersys– the system has not been updated for a long time by previous people with my position. And that mailing group has also been out of date on several points. So it has been a bit difficult for me to keep a complete overview.

But he lies flat because the information did not reach the right people.

– DIt is clear that if it was a mistake, I am very sorry for it. And I should have contacted the county board there, instead of using outdated systems.
