It will thus become known on the day Frp veteran Carl I. Hagen turns 80.

– I am not running for re-election now. But I make no guarantees for 2028! he says to TV 2.

Made a comeback

Hagen has been a central figure in the development of the Progress Party, and was party leader from 1978 to 2006. He later chose not to stand for re-election in the 2009 general election, but was re-elected to the Storting in 2021.

That time it was for Oppland Frp, after being nominated as top of the list.

– A great role model

Today’s party leader, Sylvi Listhaug, praises Hagen.

– I want to thank Carl for the wonderful effort he has put in for Norway and the Progress Party for several decades in Norwegian politics. Carl has always been ahead of his time, says Listhaug to Nettavisen.

She believes more people should listen to the former party leader.

– If Norwegian politicians had listened more to Carl in the 70s and 80s, Norway would have been an even better country today. Carl is and has always been a great role model for us in the Progress Party, says Listhaug.
