Bue has established partnerships with breeders in the sea, and delivered through the first and second batch post smolt to Mowi, Bremnes Seashore and Flokenes Fiskefarm respectively.

The third batch consisted of fish of 100 grams, which were released in June 2023, and slaughtered today with an average slaughter weight of over four kilograms and a 95 percent superior share, with an even size distribution. The largest individual measured more than eight kg, and mortality since detection has been approximately two percent.

In total, approximately 600 tonnes will be slaughtered before the summer.

– This is a big day for the company and shows that we are on the right track both in terms of fish health, technology and profitability. WE have many exciting processes underway for the further development of the company, and the evidence we have received today is an enormously important milestonepinis the general manager of Bue Salmon, Knut Eikeland, in a press release.

Bue Salmon was established in 2015 and currently has 15 employees spread over the head office in Florø, the branch office in Leirvik in Hyllestad and Bergen. The company produces salmon at its pilot plant at Bulandet in Askvoll. The pilot plant has a capacity of 1,400 tonnes of mail smolt and food fish, with a license to produce 5,500 tonnes in total in Bulandet. Bue now wants to scale up the location in Bulandet, as well as build a significantly larger land-based food fish farm in Lutelandet. With this development, Bue aims to become a leading company for land-based aquaculture, with a total annual production in the long term of around 50-60,000 tonnes.
