The theme of the Innovation Speech 2024 is “We must talk about Europe”. Monday 6 May at 12, we update the status of Norway’s competitiveness in our most important market. Welcome to the Innovation Talk – Innovation Norway’s most important annual event.

Europe is not the same as it was a few years ago. The world situation means that the EU is taking measures to become more autonomous, and the union has become an engine for green transition. In order for Norway not to fall behind, it is absolutely crucial for us to understand what is happening and where Norwegian competitive advantages lie.

Many people talk about the importance of Europe on different sides. We are now gathering a number of the most important voices here with us to make up a more comprehensive status of Norway’s relationship with our most important market. We are happy to announce that we have had two heavyweights in the EU system to give their analyzes of Norway in this regard: Maroš Šefčovič, Vice-President of the European Commission is our keynote speaker and is with us on video, and Michiel Scheffer, President of the European leading innovation programme, EIC will be physically present with us.

In the course of an hour and a half, we will visit this:

  • Are we competitive enough? What opportunities are there for Norwegian business in Europe, and are we keeping up well enough? Keynote speaker is Maroš Šefčovič, Vice-President of the European Commission (video).

  • The EEA agreement is 30 years. What have we gained from the agreement and what opportunities does it offer in the coming years?

  • What does it take to succeed in Europe? Norway’s new Minister of Industry Cecilie Myrseth (Ap) meets Eviny and Bliksund – two companies that have made it. We also hear about why Norwegian companies should be present in Brussels.

  • What does the security policy situation mean for Norwegian business? How should Norwegian companies deal with the reconstruction of Ukraine?

  • How can Norwegian companies, small and large, raise money in Europe? Meet Secure Practice from Trondheim and DigiFarm from Hamar, which have received millions of dollars in support through European innovation programs, and hear how they managed it.

  • The European Innovation Council is Europe’s foremost innovation program with over NOK 118 billion at its disposal. Meet EIC president Michiel Scheffer and hear what kind of projects EIC supports, and what tips he has for Norwegian companies that want to apply.

  • Meet investors who talk about what they are looking for in start-ups in the future.

  • Innovation Speech 2024: Hear Innovation Norway’s CEO Håkon Haugli give our analysis of the situation in Europe, and give our innovation policy advice to the authorities on how to ensure Norway’s competitiveness on the continent.
