Almost three hours have passed since the control center first reported what is a large ground fire in Refvik.
The area where the fire is located is by Refvikvatnet.
– In a steep slope on the east side of the lake. It is primarily a grazing area, with grass and vegetation. At the same time, there is also forest in the area, including some spruce. There is a lot of flammable material, Steinsland said at around 19:00.
Hope to get it under control soon
The fire brigade went out, but they were unable to control the fire. They quickly called the forest fire helicopter, which has now arrived from Rogaland.
The duty commander says that the helicopter has flown a round to get an overview, and will start extinguishing. Although he cannot guarantee anything, he says that, based on experience, you will quickly get control of the fire when a helicopter is in place.
Burn close to house
There are some houses only 5–600 meters away from where the fire service works.
– The fire is working its way north, towards Refviksanden. As of now, there is no danger to these houses, Steinsland could say early in the process.
The Swedish Road Administration has closed county road 5717, both vegan towards Refvika.
All emergency services have been called: Fire, health and police. It is Måløy station that has a reputation.
