The police cordoned off an area in Møllergata in central Oslo on Saturday evening, after a man was said to have been subjected to a serious incident of violence with what was initially described as a sharp object.
At 21.45, task leader Tore Barstad confirms to NTB that it is a stabbing, and that the police have seized a knife.
– There were two men who had been in a basket fight with another man and inflicted stab wounds on him, then they ran from the scene, he says.
To hospital
The injured person is said to be a man, says Øyvind Hammervold, operations manager in the Oslo police district. The injuries are described as serious, but not life-threatening.
– He has been sent to hospital and is probably not life-threateningly injured, Hammervold tells Nettavisen.
The incident must have happened in Møllergata in the center of the capital.
Blocked off parts of the area
The police first received information about the incident at 8.35pm, and then interviewed witnesses at the scene.
Parts of the area were also blocked off shortly after 9 p.m., Avisa Oslo reports. 15 minutes later the restrictions were lifted.
The forensic department is on the scene, the newspaper writes further.
Just before 9.30 pm, the police state that the search for the perpetrator has been completed.
