PAt the end of last year, Ingrid Vik Lysne was able to share the happy news that she is pregnant.
– I feel very well, she said at the time to MinMote.
She married Andreas Feet in October 2023, and now they will soon be three. But the road there was not entirely uncomplicated.
– I have a rather shameful story. Very private, surprisingly common, but never told out loud. Had I heard the story myself, I probably would have avoided the operating table. That’s why I tell you, to your horror and warning, she writes in a post on Instagram.
– Suddenly my boyfriend says that he wants to have children anyway
She says that she became sterile from chlamydia. In her 20s, she contracted the sexually transmitted infection twice. She was young and sloppy with condom use, she writes – because it could be cured with a course of antibiotics.
But it didn’t work out that way.
– Once I was probably left with the infection for a couple of months, because I had tested myself too soon. If you become infected with chlamydia, it takes 5-14 days before the disease develops and results in a test. So I got a negative test, even though I was infected. Without realizing it, I scarred my fallopian tubes from the infection, causing them to stick together and become blocked. I became sterile. Something you don’t notice until you want to get pregnant.

Measure on the operating table
Ingrid further writes that she had to undergo a peephole operation at Ullevål Hospital. The message she received from the doctors was that they would remove the fallopian tubes if they were unable to open them.
– When I woke up from anesthesia, I didn’t know if I was sterilized by definition or not. Fortunately, they had opened up nicely during the operation, and I have kept them. I am grateful to Ullevål Hospital for repairing such a self-inflicted injury. But I don’t wish anyone to experience the same. It’s not worth it, she writes.
