The question of whether Glimt should roll much more and let more players get the chance in matches is again relevant after another injury to a player.

The injury to Fredrik André Bjørkan just five minutes into the match against Strømsgodset on Sunday is the latest in a series of injuries that have sidelined Glimt players for quite long periods. This was of course the topic of the last episode of the Studio Glimt podcast, where Glimt expert Trond Olsen goes to great lengths to suggest that Kjetil Knutsen and the coaching team should be willing to roll more in the team.

– The burden on the Glimt players is great. There are tough training sessions and an intense match programme. We have talked about this with rolling rings before and we must be able to ask if it was necessary for Fredrik André to play the cup match against Lillestrøm in midweek when we know that he has an injury history? Should it be rolled more, says Olsen and Freddy Toresen follows up:

– Yes, was it really necessary to let Fredrik André start that match against Lillestrøm or should that match be given to Adam Sørensen?

– This is the interesting part for me: Glimt talks about their wanting a large, strong and broad squad. But do they want such a squad only to maintain the level of training so that the 11-12-13 best players are matched well in everyday life, or do they want a wide squad to be able to roll in certain positions, some players added injury history rest sometimes? For me, it is obvious that this broad squad should also be used in combat contexts to reduce the risk of injuries, says Trond Olsen.

In this latest episode of the Studio Glimt podcast, it is also discussed why it has become the case that Bodø/Glimt at Aspmyra is a more boring team to watch than when they play away games, which is also confirmed with statistics: Glimt has scored 3 goals at home, 10 goals away.

– Yes, I am a bit worried about the offensive game at home. I think it’s going a bit too slowly, the pace of the ball is too bad and it’s getting a bit too comfortable for the opponents to just lie with low pressure while Glimt controls the game without creating any great chances, says Trond Olsen.
