At 18.42, the emergency services received a report from a distance about a vehicle on fire.
– The car will be parked a bit in a wooded area, reports the police.
A few minutes later, the emergency services are on the scene.
– There is a fire in a car parked on a forest road. Some vegetation is also burning on the site. The fire service has launched extinguishing efforts, the police report.
The map shows the approximate position.
No risk of spreading
At 18.54, the fire service reports that there is no longer a risk of spreading. The car that is on fire is a passenger car, and the police are investigating the course of events.
Glenn Espen Küstner, operations manager in Sør-East 110, gives an update on the status of the case.
– The fire service is still on the scene. They have extinguished the car fire and the fire in the terrain, but subsequent extinguishing is ongoing. It’s still hot on the spot, so we’ll stay there for a while longer, says Küstner at 7.20pm.
It is good that the fire service extinguished the fire quickly, because there is currently a forest fire warning in Larvik. The recommendation is not to use fire, because vegetation can now easily ignite and large areas can be affected.

– We have not received any clarity on that, so that work is still ongoing, he says at 7.40pm, and states that they are still on site.
Just a few minutes later, the police at X state that the emergency services are closing in on the scene.
– The police have spoken to the witness, who was on a walk in the area. The police have been in contact with the car owner and are opening a case on the matter, the police report.
The cause of the fire is currently unknown.
