The Progress Party asked for a briefing on support contacts for the committee meeting in February. During the meeting, we received very little information on the topic, so it is desired to provide some information in a letter to the reader. Over several years, we have seen people with disabilities drop out of sports.

The offer was cut from one-to-one to a small group of three people with a support contact, then came the decline in individual activities within sports. Those who worked as support contacts were poorly paid. So it was difficult to get hold of a person for the job.

The salary improved after the commutation sentence. That was a boost for both relievers and support contacts. An offer of both organized and individual offers is desired for the developmentally disabled, but we see that organized offers are used the most.

Those who live in shared flats are driven to these offers and then they don’t get a proper choice about what they want, but a choice about handball rather than singing in a choir, for example. If that doesn’t suit you, you stay at home. The answer to this poor offer is staffing in shared housing. In that case, it is important to have a support contact, something that must be allocated to those who live in a care home/cohabitation much more than today.

In Sandefjord FrP, we want everyone to have a free choice and then it is important that those who want it get their own person who joins in what they want. A support contact can provide more tailored support to your specific needs and goals in sport. A society where everyone can participate equally, which will create an inclusive and diverse sports environment. To increase activity, we need a bridge builder between the sports, which a support contact can help with. If you get one person to join you, sports clubs can open the doors for wider participation.

This not only contributes to a more inclusive sports culture, but also to promoting health and well-being for individuals who might otherwise be marginalised. We must make arrangements in the municipality so that we can get everyone out into more activity and that they get good health.

Then we need good support contacts and an investment in better training. It should be up to each individual whether they want one to one or an offer for a small group. The Progress Party will look at this with support contacts for the framework case if a boost is needed so that more people can enter the sport and be able to have their own person so they can choose what they want.
