Formula 1 profile Lando Norris (24) has brought in Petter Solberg’s son as one of only four young sports stars he wants to work with.

– Cool, says Oliver Solberg to VG.

The McLaren driver has founded the company Quadrant. McLaren’s Formula 1 boss Zak Brown is also a co-owner.

What do they do? You should ideally be under 25 to understand that. But it is about content for social media, content that young people will devour.

Lando Norris and the four others are all under 25 years of age.

– Both Lando and I are busy with each of our WCs, so we haven’t had time to meet yet. But I hope maybe we can find time this summer, says Oliver Solberg.

– It’s about clothes, social media, filming, gaming… We must get involved, he continues.

On Quadrant’s website, fashionable clothes are sold, which the five market through social media.

The other three picked by Lando Norris are Olympic skateboarder Keegan Palmer (21), motocross queen Lotto van Drunen (17) and Spanish road racing driver Iván Ortolá (19).

– Everyone is young, and that is part of the point. This is something completely new and very exciting to be part of, says Oliver Solberg.

– The idea is that it should be profitable for everyone.

– Lando Norris said in the autumn of 2022 that he could imagine replacing the Formula 1 car with a rally car one day…

– Hehe, yes, and I said he could have a test ride with me. But they say that what happened then is not the reason why I have been selected now.

– So why did they just contact you?

– They liked how I profiled the sport of rallying on social media, that I made it more personal and also showed what happens outside the sport itself.

– For me, it is perfect that my most important sponsor, Monster, has now also signed with McLaren’s Formula 1 team with Lando. It opens up new possibilities.

Father Petter Solberg is not too surprised:

– I remember that a 16-year-old Lando and his father came up to me during the Autosport Awards in 2016 and told me that they liked rallying. At the time, he was quite unknown.

Oliver Solberg is driving this season’s WC in the so-called WRC2 class for Skoda. The goal is to win gold.

He is currently tied for 1st place with the French Citroën driver Yohan Rossel.

The next race is in Portugal in two weeks. What happened there last year is perhaps one of the reasons why Lando Norris chose Solberg:

– I had won there, but then I got a one-minute penalty for grabbing someone “do-nuts”Showing with the car by spinning around the place. Some also call it a pirouette.grins Solberg junior.

Dad Petter Solberg did many “do-nuts” in his career to please the fans, but in recent years the rules have been tightened. For Oliver Solberg, it ended up losing the victory on this.

PS: VG has searched in vain for Lando Norris’ companion in Quadrant, Jamie MacLaurin.
