In August 2023, the westbound lane on Stauslandsveien towards Hølleveien was closed to traffic due to work on new lines for water and drainage. Drivers have since been directed to Søgneveien, past Søgne old rectory and Tjomsemoen to head west towards Høllen, Tangvall and other destinations.

At the time, it was suggested that the road would be closed for a few months, but the work has turned out to be more demanding than first thought. Now there is still good news for road users who have been waiting for the road to reopen.

– During the week, the heavy security on the stretch will be removed, and some smaller barriers will be set up. From Thursday next week, there will be two-way traffic again, but light regulation on parts of the section furthest east, says Anita Egeland at the Engineering Service in Kristiansand municipality to N247.

In the westernmost part of the construction area, only minor measures remain before the road can be opened to traffic next week.

On to Føreid

Egeland adds that not all the work with water and drainage in the area has thus been finished. Work is still to be continued on upgrading pipe systems east to Føreidveien and further on the less trafficked road down to Føreid. According to the engineering service, the work here will not affect traffic to the same extent as smaller holes will be dug here and pipes laid in the existing route.

– It is expected to take a week to get to Føreidveien and pull under the county road. The crews then need time to clean up. Remaining work will be along Føreidveien and will only affect local traffic on this road, says Egeland.
