TOUGH: This year’s edition could be the toughest in history. Here from 2018, when the regatta was postponed due to high winds.

Raymarine 2Star is held earlier than usual, and has a longer course, without stops.

Raymarine Twostar 2024 starts on 24 May, with registration and safety check at Hankø yacht Club on 23 May. For the first time, it is held before the Færderseilasen. This year’s regatta will offer more track options than previous editions.

30-40 hours

Originally, 2Star went from Hankø to Arendal where there was a pit stop, then on to Marstrand where there was a new pit stop. This year’s long course will be similar to the one sailed in 2011, but without a pit stop. There will be a start from Hankø, and a long stretch of 75 nm to Torungen outside Arendal. Over to Brofjorden on the Swedish coast, and then towards the finish at Hankø, but a turn by Tristeingrunnen on the way home.

The course will be approximately 230 nm, and is calculated to take 30 to 40 hours. Both large and small classes sail the same course.

COURSE: This year’s Raymarine 2Star will be 230 nm without a break.

Category 4 with additions

The long course requires more safety equipment, but no more than what is required during the WC two weeks later. It is required either a fleet or that both sailors have an AIS transmitter on their vests.

Coastal sailing

A shorter course is also planned, and here there is also a separate class for multihull boats.

The short course will be determined later, and it will be a course that will take about 24 hours, says Endre Steinbru in Fredrikstad Sailing Association.
