Abortion early in an unwanted pregnancy should be offered by the GP and health centres, believe the leaders of AUF and Senterungdommen.

– It’s about having an accessible and good health service no matter where you live, Andrine Seppola explains to TV 2.

She and AUF leader Astrid Hoem believe that medical abortion should be able to be offered by the primary healthcare service, i.e. GP or health centres.

– If you live in Smøla, are 17 years old and want to have an abortion, then you have to get on a boat and bus, take time off from school and maybe tell your parents even if you don’t want to. There is quite a lot that is anti-district in that this has to be carried out in a hospital, says Hoem to the channel.

The government plans to present its proposal for a new abortion law before the summer.

The abortion committee recommended in December to investigate an offer of abortion outside hospital. They also recommend that the new abortion law does not prevent abortion before week ten from being offered outside hospital.
