Sat the age of 13, she was discovered in a restaurant at home in Sweden. Vendela Kirsebom (57) started working as a model at a young age, and at the time she knew little about what awaited her.
Over several decades, her life has offered experiences and jobs most of us can only dream of. It was in 1993 – as a Sports Illustrated cover girl – that the modeling career really reached new heights.
– That is what I look back on as the highlight. It was the turning point in my modeling career that led to me getting the big jobs, she has previously told KK.

In an interview with Hjemmet, she opens up about her career – and life now, after a modeling career people can only dream of.
Orange skin, wrinkles and sagging breasts. Who has decided that it is so ugly? Who says women have to look like 25-year-olds all their lives?
Vendela Kirsebom lets the question hang in the air, before she answers:
– We all get older. Nothing can stop it. The body changes – and you just have to accept that. But change can also be beautiful. Wrinkles and life lived can be pretty. It’s a lot about inner peace. About psyche. And pride.
– And you are satisfied with getting older?, asks the journalist.
– Yes, I am. And I am glad that age seems to be more accepted now than in the past. Also in the modeling industry.
– Of course, it also helps to have a man who tells you every single day that you are beautiful and who asks if I am happy in my heart.
And the man is Petter Pilgaard. The popular couple met during the “Farmen kjendis” recording in 2016. On 17 June 2022, “the whole” of Norway’s favorite couple gave each other their “yes” at Hotel Continental in Oslo.

– Vendela’s beautiful interior overshadows the exterior
When KK spoke to Pilgaard just before the wedding in 2022, he paid tribute to his wife:
– I am full of admiration that she comes from the modeling life and everything she has experienced, and yet is so down-to-earth. It’s impossible not to love it! When we met, I felt like I had met my soul mate. Being able to marry his greatest love and best friend, it’s a no-brainer, he said, adding:
– I think Vendela’s beautiful inside overshadows the outside. And that is the inner thing you have to live with. The appearance is just a bonus on top of everything. Honest. We met and became extremely good friends, and we skipped the sales period with peak trips and interests. We met without any agenda.
