SAS has previously announced a transition from the airline alliance Star Alliance to competitor Skyteam. This will happen on 1 September and the agreement has now been signed.

A press release from SAS states that when SAS becomes a member of Skyteam, EuroBonus members will have advantages with most of Skyteam’s airlines:

  • EuroBonus Silver members get the status of Skyteam Elite
  • Gold and Diamond members will receive Elite Plus status

This will give members access to a network consisting of more than 750 airport lounges and SkyPriority services, including priority check-in, boarding and baggage handling, writes SAS in the press release.

– Smooth transition

– SAS shares Skyteam’s vision when it comes to delivering a more integrated and responsible travel experience. Together with our members, we are now continuing the work to ensure a smooth transition for customers when SAS joins the alliance, says Andrés Conesa, chairman of Skyteam, in the press release.

It is previously known that SAS’ bonus program EuroBonus will continue and that points that have been saved up will not disappear.
