The ordinary salary amounted to 753,000 euros. In addition, Skjeldam received 766,000 euros in bonuses for 2022 which are paid out in 2023. In addition, there are costs related to his moving to Great Britain, writes E24.

Furthermore, it appears in the annual report that the CEO has an annual bonus plan that is based on how well the company is doing. This bonus is ultimately paid out at the board’s discretion.

Since the company did not achieve the targets since 2023, Skjeldam will not be paid the bonus. Skjeldam lost 296,000 euros in wages in 2023 compared to the previous year. That is NOK 3.5 million at today’s exchange rate.

– Challenging year

Hurtigruten Group ended the year with a billion loss. The fourth quarter of last year ended with a profit before tax of minus NOK 1.25 billion.

Skjeldam pointed to high one-off costs, challenges linked to the ship Maud which was exposed to severe storms and higher costs in general due to inflation.

Before Christmas last year, Hurtigruten Group announced extensive refinancing and splitting up, which meant that the business was split into two different legal and operational units.

Skjeldam writes in his note in the annual report that 2023 has been a transformative year for the company.

– The pandemic hit the tourism industry hard, and the industry has had challenging years also in the wake of the pandemic, writes Skjeldam.
