Just before 11pm on Maundy Thursday, the police received a report of an occupational accident on the ship “With Harvest”, which was near Austevoll.
The ship is a feed boat and belongs to Egil Ulvan Rederi AS, which has offices in Trondheim.
The man who was injured was picked up by a rescue helicopter and was initially to be taken to the National Hospital in Oslo. On the way to Oslo, the helicopter turned around and landed at Haukeland at 00:30.
On Friday morning, general manager Arild Hoff at Egil Ulvan Rederi says that they have been in contact with the injured man.
– There is a serious crushing accident with damage to the arm. Our colleague will be operated on at Haukeland today, writes Hoff in an SMS to BT.
The entire crew on board are Norwegian citizens.
The cause of the accident is still unknown.
– We do not have more details at the time of writing, writes Hoff.
Two helicopters participated
The police received assistance from the coast guard ship “Tor”, which was in the area and the coast guard was able to transport a police patrol out to the ship.
On Friday morning, the operative part of the case was over for the police.
In addition to the rescue helicopter, the air ambulance and the ambulance boat “Austevolljenta” also participated. It was the rescue helicopter that brought the man up from the ship.
