Gjendem was reported missing on Saturday, after he had not turned up for an appointment in the morning.

Relatives have been notified.

23-year-old Endre Gjendem was last seen at 02:15 on Saturday night at the Madam Reiersen nightclub in Arendal.

A formal missing person report was received late on Saturday evening and a search was launched for the missing person on Sunday 7 August.

Just after 10 on Monday 8 August, a dead man was found in the sea outside Tyholmen, Arendal centre.

On Thursday afternoon, the police will go out with a secure identity.

– A certain cause of death will not be revealed until the final autopsy report is available, but based on the preliminary report, the hypothesis of a criminal act has not been strengthened, says a press release.

Section leader for investigation at Arendal and Froland police station, Helge Torsvik, states that it appears most likely to be an accident.

Tyholmen is a peninsula from the center of Arendal. The pub where the 23-year-old was last seen is located right there.

So it was here that Gjendem was found.

The police informed Dagbladet on Monday that there was nothing to indicate that the 23-year-old wanted to disappear. There is also no indication that anything criminal has occurred.

Large forces were called out in the search for the 23-year-old. More than 50 people took part in the search for the missing man on Sunday evening. Both the police, the Red Cross, Norwegian People’s Aid, Norwegian rescue dogs, rescue boat Inge Steensland and private individuals participated, according to Agderposten.
