MJØNDALEN: At 11.20am, the police went to an apartment in the stadium quarter in Mjøndalen after several neighbors independently called and notified the police about what they perceived as something suspicious.
When the police arrived, they found a dead woman in the apartment.
– We see it as a suspicious death, says operations manager Trond-Egil Groth to Drammens Tidende.
Traces and circumstances in the apartment
– What makes you investigate this as a suspicious death?
– There are traces and circumstances in the apartment, replies Groth.
A man was also in the apartment when the police arrived. The man was arrested and charged with murder. The man has now been taken to Drammen police station for questioning.
– The arrest itself went without any kind of drama, says Groth to Drammens Tidende.
Will not comment on any seizures
– Have you seized the apartment, for example weapons?
– I cannot comment on that at the present time, replies the operations manager.
– Were there more people in the apartment?
– When we arrived at the scene, only the man and the woman were there. But if there have been more witnesses, it is too early to say anything about.
According to the police, there is a relationship between the accused man and the woman who was found dead.
Polling in the neighborhood
Groth states that the police are working with witness interviews and that they are carrying out a poll in the neighborhood to find out if there are more people who have discovered anything suspicious.
At 1.15pm, police crime technicians arrived at the scene, according to Drammens Tidende’s reporter.
So far, the police have not asked for assistance from Kripos.
Neighbor confirms
Drammens Tidende has been in contact with a neighbor who claims there must have been noise from the apartment last night. Around 06:00 on Thursday morning, they heard banging on the walls.
According to the neighbours, it is not the first time there has been noise from the flat.
