THE DRAMA: It was at 11 o’clock that the emergency services received a report of a traffic accident on Nordbyveien between Tangen and Åskollen.

According to the police, two heavier vehicles were involved in the incident. The driver of one vehicle was trapped after the accident and had to be freed by the fire service.

– When we arrived, we met a train with a person trapped in it. We got the person out of the vehicle quite quickly, says fire service manager Vegard Hennum.

The person was quickly taken over by the healthcare system, but the extent of the damage is currently unknown. According to police task leader Bård Olsen, the person in question was awake and talking.

– He has been taken to Drammen hospital, says Olsen, who does not know the extent of the patient’s injuries.

Probably rolled backwards

Investigation at the site indicates that there has been asphalt work at the site. In that connection, a lorry is said to have rolled backwards and hit a lorry which was standing still on Nordbyveien in front, according to Olsen.

In this connection, the driver of the wagon train was trapped while sitting.

The police are still working at the scene with investigations and witness interviews. According to Olsen, the Accident Investigation Board will also carry out investigations.

Photos from the scene show extensive damage to the train. This is also partly due to the fact that the fire brigade had to dismantle, cut and pull out the cab.

Closed

Vegtrafikksentralen states that the road is completely closed as a result of the accident.

The police rushed to the scene with several units, including the drone car. The fire brigade also moved out with three vehicles, and the ambulance service had several units in place.

According to Hennum in the fire service, people stuck in trucks are challenging to handle, and it requires a lot of crew.

– But through good training, our methods work effectively and the person got out of the vehicle quite quickly. This shows that the training works in practice, he says.
