Gartland has extensive experience in sales and management from the IT industry from large companies such as Evry and Capgemini. For the past year, she has been sales manager at Secure Practice in Trondheim. Now she will lead Computas’ Trondheim office and ensure further growth for the company in Trøndelag. She makes no secret of the fact that the desire to create something in the region is central to her work.

– I’m from Trønder myself, live here and have a large network here. Trøndelag is a power centre, and Trondheim with Gløshaugen is Norway’s IT capital in terms of talent. We must take care of that and develop it further. Computas has ambitions to be an active contributor to the technological and economic development in the whole of Trøndelag, and I look forward to leading this work, she says.

Desired Trønder management for further growth

Computas Trondheim was established in 2022 and consists of 14 employees who already provide services to local customers such as Tensio and Sparebank 1 Midt-Norge. The company has ambitions for growth in both the number of employees and customers in the region, and particularly notices the demand for AI-related expertise.

CEO of Computas, Trond Eilertsen, is delighted to have Gartland on board:

– Marit knows Trøndelag. We believe this is important for us to succeed in the next phase of our growth ambitions where we want to offer services to even more businesses in the region. She has commercial flair and a good understanding of how we can drive value creation for our customers. And she shares Computas’ focus on building and offering a highly competent professional environment, he says.

Lured by developing Norwegian business life and own talents

Gartland strongly believes that Norwegian-owned consulting firms such as Computas are needed as challengers in the IT market.

– It’s not just about keeping sought-after expertise in Norwegian hands, but just as much about values. Computas is owned by the employees themselves, and I think that makes something unique with the culture and the ability to think long-term. When you read about how some consultancy firms cancel summer jobs and employment contracts with recent graduates at the last minute, I think it is unfortunate for the entire industry.

Gartland says that Computas has a long tradition of taking in large groups of summer students and recent graduates and sees it as a long-term investment.

– My predecessor, Ida Ryland, who has been head of Computas in Trondheim since its inception in 2022, started at the company as a summer student. Computas has been exemplary there. They have had a long-term focus and have taken their social responsibility, regardless of business cycles.

Fun, good and “grunk”

Gartland is looking forward to getting to know his new colleagues and not least making Computas known as a solid partner for businesses in Trøndelag. She has ambitions to develop a working environment that matches Computas, but also matches the region.

– I think we have to be a little more trønder when we have to play on teams with local business and businesses located here. I want us to focus on our work at GGG, which is about us being good, having fun and generating ideas. Both for Computas as a company, but most of all through value creation for our customers. And I think the three Gs are closely linked, concludes Gartland.
