Former FRP leader and Storting representative Carl I. Hagen will not stand for re-election to the Storting.
– I am not running for re-election now, he says to TV 2.
Hagen turned 80 on Monday, but is still active in politics as a parliamentary representative for Oppland.
He was the leader of the Progressive Party from 1978 to 2006, and sat in the Storting between 1981 and 2009 before being re-elected in 2021.
At the next parliamentary election in 2025, Hagen will not run as a parliamentary candidate, but he tells TV 2 that he has no guarantees for the election that follows, i.e. in 2029.
Current Frp leader Sylvi Listhaug thanks Hagen for the effort he has put in during his many decades in politics.
– Carl has always been ahead of his time. If Norwegian politicians had listened more to Carl in the 70s and 80s, Norway would have been an even better country today. Carl is and has always been a great role model for us in the Progress Party, says Listhaug to NTB.
