FRP demands “zero refugees” to Drammen – Dagsavisen

– After the State Administrator’s repeal of the refugee decision in Drammen, we have discussed what to do next, Frps Jon Helgheim writes on his Facebook profile on Monday evening.

He concludes that in 2025 the local party will demand that Drammen not accept any refugees, not even those from Ukraine.

– Since the state does not allow Drammen to settle the refugees we think we can settle, the FRP believes that we must stop settling refugees. Next year the FRP will therefore demand zero refugees, and we expect to get a majority for that, writes Helgheim.

– Headless immigration policy

Dagsavisen has previously written about the Drammen municipal council’s controversial decision from last winter, that they would only accept refugees from Ukraine. Later, the State Administrator in Oslo and Viken decided that parts of Drammen’s decision violate the Constitution, and are thus invalid. Now the FRP responds by saying that then Drammen will not accept any refugees at all, regardless of where they come from.

– For many years, Drammen has accepted more refugees than we manage to integrate and we now have major integration problems, says Helgheim.

– A failed national settlement policy also leads to far more refugees moving here from other municipalities than we ourselves choose to settle. Now it is therefore over! Now we must concentrate on the citizens we already have, and prevent all citizens from getting a worse offer as a result of a headless immigration policy.

– We spent a lot of money

Helgheim nevertheless emphasizes that they do not want to throw out any of the 125 refugees that Drammen has decided to settle in 2024.

– More than half are already residents. Reducing the number now is therefore not appropriate and will cost a lot of money, the decision for this year will therefore stand, he says.
