– It’s really an exciting challenge, and I’m looking forward to being able to take part in developing VAR and Norwegian football. I give up as referee on the field a little earlier than I had thought, but there is a time for everything, says Moen.

45-year-old Moen refereed internationally between 2005 and 2020. His CV includes several World Cups, Olympics, quarter-finals in the Champions League, semi-finals in the Europa League and several championships for age-specific national teams.

– After good processes with Terje, the NFF and the family, I decided that this was a good and right opportunity to contribute outside the pitch. I hope I can become a good resource in the judging group and look forward to working with both the administration and the judges, he continues.

Chief referee Terje Hauge is happy about the role change.

– First, I would like to thank Svein Oddvar for his efforts as top referee over many years. He has been among our top judges for a number of years, and his career as a judge is highly respected, says Hauge.

– We are losing one of our best referees on the pitch, but luckily we get to utilize all his experience in the role of VAR officer. I am glad that he accepted the new position. He knows both VAR, the refereeing profession and the refereeing environment well, adds Hauge.
