Man died after a fall on a ski trip: – A pure accident

The man was on a ski trip with a hiking buddy when he fell and died.

It was Nordlys that reported the matter first.

– The place he fell on was not a steep area, no extreme terrain at all. So there is no question of reckless driving or anything like that. This was a pure accident, Olav Bjørgaas, head of rescue in the main rescue center (HRS) in Bodø, tells iTromsø.

HRS received an alarm about the accident from the emergency medical communications center (AMK) at 14.23 on Monday, and moved out from Tromsø with a rescue helicopter. The accident was not communicated to the public.

– We do not have any details about the cause of death, nationality or age. All we know is that it was a man who died after falling on a relatively flat terrain, says Bjørgaas.

The rescue manager does not want to speculate on what caused the death.

– Who reported the accident?

– The man was on a trip with someone else, so it can be assumed that it was this person who reported. But as I said, I do not sit on personal data or the sequence of events, that is with AMK.

Operations manager in the Troms police district, Rune Nilsen, does not sit on further details about the death either.

– The only thing the police have done practically operationally is that we have investigated the incident. Unfortunately, I do not have any further information than that, says Nilsen.

The investigation is closed.
