The time to replace the one-time code app is running out. Customers in Sparebanek 1 Nord-Norge must switch to the BankID app to use banking services.

– Customers with the one-time code app have been told to switch to the BankID app. Many have already done this, but there is still a lot to do, says Lene Junge, payment specialist at SpareBank 1 Nord-Norge.

Customers who use a physical code chip and wish to continue doing so do not need to take any action.

Easy to achieve

The one-time code app, which was introduced in 2011, will now be phased out. The replacement BankID app came in 2022, and has already been used by most banks. Now the bank is asking those who have hesitated to replace the app to install the new one.

– It is a very simple process that only takes a couple of minutes: download the BankID app in the App Store or Google Play, open the app and follow the steps from there, says Junge.

If customers need a step-by-step guide, they will find this easily available on the bank’s website.

– We are also helpful both physically in the banks and on the phone and chat, to answer questions and assist customers who need it, says Junge.

Be aware of fraud

At the same time, the bank warns that there are fraudsters out there who try to take advantage of changes to BankID and the one-time code app.

The bank therefore asks customers and others to be careful if they should receive SMS or e-mails that contain links or other suspicious content, says a press release.

– We emphasize that we do not send customers links via SMS or e-mail in this process. Do not log in or download anything via links if this is sent to you. Download the BankID app directly from the App Store or Google Play. Also make sure you never give out your BankID password or other sensitive information – no matter who gets in touch and asks about this, says Lene Junge.
