A Russian group from further north in the country had to leave the bus in Bergen on Thursday afternoon. They were on their way to the Landstreffet in Stavanger, a national Russian festival, which is at the weekend.

The bus was going on board the Danish boat. When Vegvesen saw it, it came to a complete standstill.

– We discovered that the bus is a death trap in the event of an accident, the Swedish Road Administration writes in the inspection results.

The company that rented out the bus is reported and fined NOK 6,000. The bus was banned from driving.

Swedish bus

It is common for Russian groups to buy or rent buses from other countries in order to get other types of solutions approved than what is legal in Norway.

This bus is Swedish, according to the Swedish Road Administration. In Sweden, it was approved that the bus has, among other things, side-facing seats and a roof rig, which in many cases is not legal in Norway.

The bus had, among other things, speakers, power generator and spotlights on the roof. To fill the unit with fuel, you have to climb onto the roof.

There were also not many or good enough emergency exits in the bus, according to the Swedish Road Administration.

All errors must be corrected before the bus can continue.

In addition, there are separate rules that dictate that a bus like this can only drive 20 days in Norway, before it has to leave the country for four days.

As this bus has already been driving in Norway for some time, it would have been illegal to drive it in Norway until May 17, writes the Swedish Road Administration.

The Swedish Road Administration believes that it would have been difficult for the passengers to get out, including through this roof hatch, if something had happened in the bus.

Hardly allowed to drive legally until May 17

The Russian made it on the Danish boat, according to the report, but will probably be without a bus for some time to come.
