Defending Sophie Elise:

--

On Tuesday this week, influencer Sophie Elise Isachsen (29) and her partner Vegard Jørstad finally became parents for the first time. She revealed this on Instagram, where she shared a photo of her newborn son.

– Desperate

“I was very much in shock when he arrived and it took me quite a few hours to land afterwards, I couldn’t understand that HE was my baby. Absolutely insane feeling. But now I’ve taken it in, and he’s absolutely perfect,” was one of the things she wrote.

Isachsen has now assumed the role of mother and seems to be looking forward to the time ahead, which will consist of a completely new everyday life with her little family.

If we look back just a few years, things looked different for the new mother. She was involved in one scandal after another, including with Nora Haukland (27), after a photo was accidentally published on Instagram where the latter was holding a bag of white powder.

When it became known in November last year that Isachsen was expecting her first child, it was received with mixed feelings from several people, who did not think she was “fit” enough to become a mother.

– Give her a chance

In this week’s episode of the podcast “Seb & Nikki”, which is led by the parents of four, Sebastian Solberg (34) and Nikoline Anundsen (29), they take a stand against those who criticize Isachsen.

– She has become a mother and I see Sophie Elise’s comment section, things are going smoothly, the muck runs. For some reason, people can’t just say congratulations to her. I think a bit like that, when a woman has a child, she has had a life before that child (…). Can we the hell just give Sophie Elise a chance before we judge her like a mother? asks Solberg.

Furthermore, Solberg points out that she is, like the rest of us, just a human being with feelings. He believes that some of the criticism against her has been deserved, but now thinks that people must stop raging, before she has even had time to show the new side of herself as a mother.

Anundsen describes the whole thing as “unfair” towards Isachsen, as people have already set unrealistic expectations of her.

– Like everyone else, she will also make mistakes in her role as a mother. What’s so awkward when you have so many eyes on you is that people expect you to do it perfectly – and it’s a role you don’t do perfectly. I’m afraid that once she does something that all first-time parents have done, people will be quick to point the finger.

The couple say that they are sure that the 29-year-old will be a good mother, and hope that she will share her journey with the followers.

– Report me to child protection

At the start of the year, Isachsen did an interview with A magazine, and opened up about what it was like to receive criticism from all sides.

– Several people have written that they want to report me to child protection, “because you have a drug problem”. It’s so wrong, and makes me so sad, she said about the time after she shared the pregnancy news.

Could this be the baby’s name?

The influencer made no secret of the fact that there was a lot of partying for a period, and that it all came to an end when the photo scandal featured on the front pages of Norway’s largest newspapers, week after week.

Just six months before, she opened up about having spent five weeks in rehab for pill abuse.

– I should have taken the time and money to stay in rehabilitation longer. It was from the pills, so right. I didn’t have time to have any therapy or reflect on why things had turned out the way they had. So I continued to live exactly as before, minus the pills.
