In collaboration with Alti Forvaltning, McDonald’s wants to open its first restaurant in Kristiansund next year. The restaurant is planned next to the Alti Futura shopping centre. The application process is now underway.
– Kristiansund is a great city and an interesting market for us, which is why we have long wanted to establish ourselves here. There are naturally many reservations at the moment, but if everything goes as we hope, we have an ambition to be able to serve our first Big Mac in Kristiansund in March next year, says property manager for McDonald’s in Norway, Liv Siri H. Silseth.
Alti, who owns the site, are happy to finally be able to reveal that McDonald’s has entered into a partnership with them. They believe the restaurant will be a popular addition to Kristiansund.
– We think it is very exciting that a player like McDonald’s chooses to invest in Kristiansund. We at Alti work continuously to strengthen the city as a shopping destination through the development of the shopping centres, and this establishment will complement the current store mix and further strengthen the overall offer. We look forward to an exciting journey with McDonald’s in Kristiansund, which will lead to many new jobs and good customer experiences, says managing director of Alti Forvaltning, Lars Ove Løseth.
Local jobs
The opening of McDonald’s in Kristiansund could mean around 50 new jobs for the municipality. The aim is always to recruit locally.
– Contributing to local jobs is important to us, which is why we always recruit as locally as possible. We are particularly concerned about giving young people a chance in working life, and we are proud to contribute to workplaces that provide the necessary work experience and opportunities for development. At McDonald’s, we come from different backgrounds, with different experiences. With us there is room for everyone, says Silseth.
Hoping for positive feedback from the municipality
The restaurant McDonald’s has applied to build is 540 square metres. It will have both indoor and outdoor seating, respectively 120 seats inside and 25 seats outside. The restaurant will also have a Drive Thru, a playland and the popular McCafé coffee shop.
Before construction work can begin, the applications must be processed by Kristiansund municipality.
