--

Around 1230 on Saturday afternoon, a man received life-saving first aid at Bryggen.

– We have been informed that cardiopulmonary resuscitation is in progress, police operations manager Tatjana Knappen told BA initially.

A man is said to have collapsed right after the finish line during the Bergen City Marathon.

The incident happened right at the event’s medical station, which meant that the man quickly received help from both doctors and the Red Cross.

– It is no coincidence that they are standing right there. They were quickly up with the tablecloths to shield both him and those who witnessed this. And not least so that the doctors can work in peace, says Roger Gjelsvik, who is mainly responsible for the race.

Be conscious

Operations leader at the scene, Knut Grini, tells BA that the man was conscious when he was taken away. The police cannot say more than that about his condition.

Operations manager Knappen says that the man has been transported to the emergency department.

She says that a police patrol was sent out to assist in getting the ambulance and the patient out of the area.

– It is naturally quite crowded with people there today, but it has gone well, she says.

It was BT who reported the incident first.
