Delivering year after year

Sandefjord is not the club with the biggest resources in the Eliteserien, but year after year the blues from Vestfold deliver the goods. The merging club had its first season in 1999 and already on the first attempt they went from the 2nd division to the 1st division. In 2002, they played qualification for promotion to the Eliteserien, losing against Brann. The following year the stage was again set for qualification, this time an adventure of a showdown against Vålerenga, which the Oslo team eventually won. In 2005, promotion finally came and the club was ready for the Eliteserien for the first time in history.

From the debut season in 2006, Sandefjord has been at the top level in 12 out of 19 seasons. Since 2017, there have been 7 seasons in the Eliteserien, only in 2019 were they below the OBOS league. So despite all the gloomy predictions every single year, Sandefjord delivers the goods and is a stable and established Eliteserie team.

The margins against

So far, Sandefjord has 1 point in this year’s Eliteserie, but due to delays in the conversion to artificial grass at Jotun Arena, they have only played 3 games. The margins have not been with Sandefjord so far in this year’s league games, losses in regular games against Rosenborg and Lillestrøm as well as a draw away to Odd, where the home team equalized well into overtime.

In the NM this year, as last year, there was a quick exit for Sandefjord. Fløy were too strong and won 1-0 in the 1st round, just like last year where Eik Tønsberg was too strong and won in a penalty shootout in the 1st round. On Sunday, therefore, a well-rested Sandefjord will come to Fredrikstad, who did not have the pleasure of, or perhaps relaxed, playing a cup match in midweek.

Two quick ones at the Stadium

After a preponderance of away games so far in the season, two quick games will now be played on our own artificial turf. First Sandefjord in the Eliteserien on Sunday, then 3rd round in the NM against Rosenborg on Wednesday.

FFK had to work to get past a hard-working Eik Tønsberg on Thursday, a few days before that there was a tough battle in Stavanger against Viking. A good football team often has both a physio and a doctor working, then you know that there is little in between in the duels, that is how everyday life is for FFK at the moment, with the exception of Mai Traore and Joannes Bjartalid who are both in training from muscle injuries.

FFK is chasing its first win at home in 2024. Head to the Stadium and join the electric atmosphere at Fredrikstad Stadium when For Fredrikstad resounds over the Stadium!
