So it’s no wonder the iPhone feels old-fashioned all the time there are only a handful of backgrounds from Apple and no opportunities to create your own if you don’t count the possibility of simple image editing of images you’ve already saved on the mobile. Fortunately, Apple has finally approved an AI image app called “Wall Genie,” so we can hope that starting with iOS 18, which will be launched in beta version on June 10, the iPhone will have the function built-in.

You can also use a VPN to use Meta’s free AI image generator.

The app creates a background based on the following criteria that the user can choose from:

  • Style – Choose a primary design type to guide the wallpaper’s final shape
  • Color – Choose from 15 beautiful color themes
  • Element – Select a key element object to tie it all together

The app is only partially free: every seventh background created by the community is free. If you want more, it costs around NOK 20 for 10 pictures a week or just over NOK 100 for 75 pictures a month.

Features:

  • Generate custom high resolution portrait wallpapers (1024 x 1792, max allowed by DALL•E)
  • Save and share your creations with the Wall•Genie community
  • Unlimited wallpaper downloads (every 7 wallpapers for free users)
  • Vote up your favorite posts
  • No ads, no tracking, no login required
  • Uses the latest DALL•E 3 modeling for the best image quality and comprehensive stylistic understanding (can revert to DALL•E 2 if speed limits are reached)
